Livestream’s Livepack goes live

September 24th, 2009 · 2 Comments

livepack-logoA friend of mine just brought this to my attention. Livestream is launching the Livepack (video automatically plays).  What is the Livepack you ask???  It’s a satellite television truck in a back pack.  You have an HD video camera connected to your Livepack via firewire.  Inside the Livepack is all kinds of technology I don’t know anything about but what I do know is that there are 8 yes 8 wireless modems that connect to the 3 biggest carriers here in the US.  This gives the user the ability to broadcast in HD quality anything their hearts desire to their own Livestream web page and the kicker is it’s wireless.

Specs and details I was able to glean:

  • There’s 3 hours of battery life in the standard set up
  • Batteries are hot swappable
  • The back pack fully loaded is not light but definitely usable
  • Cost is $2,500 per month and theirs no monthly contract

I have produced all kinds of events and I think this would be absolutely perfect for all different kinds of events.  I’m thinking it could be the new hip thing to have at a wedding for the family who couldn’t attend to be able to enjoy the event in real time.  That’s just one of many possible uses.

Here’s are 2 additional links with some great information:

$2500/month?!?! I could hire a couple of film student interns forvthat price and produce my own edited reality show. Nevertheless, sounds cool; especially for weddings where people drop that kind of cash anyway. (added by Mobile using Mippin)

    Hey CT,
I agree 100% about the price but it’s a lot cheaper then hiring a regular crew to record an event and upload it to the net in real time for you.
I can see this at high end weddings (for example) as the new “it” thing to have, for the rich.
Thanks so much for reading my blog.

    Have a great weekend,
    Jeb
